Now, I know what you’re thinking. Yes this is a media review site. However, this book is fairly important to me because it was what got me to start learning to crochet. I was searching for “Cthulhu” one day when I was bored and I came across “Creepy Cute Crochet” by accident. I went out and bought it the same afternoon (you should have learned by now that I am in impulse buyer of zombies, and anything book related.)
The patterns are ranked in terms of ease, but since I’m still a beginning I haven’t done any of them yet. The patterns are really nice and cover tons of ground with regards to the subject matter. There are even wizards, Trojan warriors, and Amazonian women to crochet.
This book is a must-have for any crafty zombie lover ! In fact, I was perusing another blog and found out that windgie79 at craftster.org actually used the patterns as the basis for a whole set of Left 4 Dead zombies. By the way – for those of you who are not familiar with amigurumi, they are cute Japanese crocheted dolls / toys. They have branched out into all sorts of things such as ornaments for Christmas trees. Amigurumi started out being animals, but the art form has taken on inanimate objects. The key word being cute…just look at the figures on the book above. Cute. I have a good friend who just bought this a week ago 🙂 I’m not crafty in the least, but she says this book is going to be lots of fun.
Hello there ! Haven’t heard from you in awhile 🙂 Yeah – I bought this book over the summer. I’m not anywhere near being able to do this kind of craft – I am still learning the stitches necessary. Currently I’m working on a baby blanket for my cousin’s first child (the baby shower is in March, and Liam will be born in April) and a scarf for my other cousin. It’s not so bad – but I think when it comes to complex patterns I will have some issues.
For someone who already knows all the basics I’m sure it will be a blast !
Are you familiar with shadow knitting (or illusion knitting)? My friend knitted an alien scarf for me recently that–to a non-knitting/crocheting mind like mine–is simply impossible.

I didn’t know it had a name, but I had seen that scarf pattern in a book. It made me want to learn, until I realized that I can only really manipulate one needle at a time. As it is, I’m a lefty and all the patterns and tutorials for crochet and knitting are for right-handers.
That’s an amazing alien pattern – I don’t know anyone who knits or I’d commission one. Did she do it in the same colors (the green and black?) You’re lucky she made one for you 🙂
Hey – aliens work for me. After all, this is a horror blog, and I think the idea of being abducted or killed by an alien race is terrifying ! My current (and most likely permanent) main obsession happens to be zombies 🙂
My boyfriend bought me this book for Christmas! I’m still perfecting a lot of the stitches, because I am the queen of granny squares. My projects are on hold because I don’t really like crochet in summer, but I want a sweet zombie army for my bookshelf.

I haven’t yet gotten the time to sit down and actually start working on any of the projects – I’m still in the stitch learning phase. My personal best was a lopsided baby blanket for my cousin – but I’m getting better.
The book was super cute – and I’m thinking of using the patterns for Christmas ornaments for my non-conventional friends. They’d be really cute done with crochet thread – but I’m a loong ways off from that.
Did you see the changes the one girl made to the patterns? She made a whole set of Left 4 Dead zombies just based on those patterns. I don’t think I could ever make my own patterns. It looks too difficult.

I loved the book, it’s very cute. I have about 1/4 of a head done for a Ninja, and he’s sitting on my bookshelf. My mum wants me to make her some vampire. I had no idea that somebody made the Left 4 Dead zombies. I used to play that game all the time! I think I’ll go look those up, so I can make them once I have my zombie and Cthulhu army completed.
The closest I ever came to making my own patterns was creating a bunch of poppies and linking them together on a long set of CH and winding it through my backpack when I was at university. Other than that I’m more of a cook/writer than a pattern girl. I’ve been wanting to improve for a long time, but I’m the only person I know who can do anything crochet-wise, other than my aunt, but all she knows are granny squares.
Nice ! I haven’t been able to try any of them as of yet – but I will be this summer. I have a few friends who like the macabre (like I do – but not as intensely) and I’m thinking of handing out the early creations as bookshelf gremlins and such.
What other crochet do you like ? I’m thinking of doing a dog sweater this summer – my pup is an odd fit since she’s a Boston.

If I were better at it, I’d like functional crochet. Like hate, shawls and scarves. Things that are a little darker themed, or to do with aliens are very cool. I doubt my cats would appreciate custom clothes, unfortunately, and I’m a few years off of dog ownership.
So in short, I like zombies, blankets and clothes.
Sorry for how long it took me to respond! Yes – this summer I will most definitely get to putting some pictures up online. I’m not sure which of the projects I will be starting – maybe the reaper. He looked fairly simple.
I’m learning the chevron stitch now, and that’s fairly difficult – so I don’t know how soon I will be getting into shawls and scarves, although those things are beautiful to knit and crochet.
